Discover the History of Acura CL

Patricia

The first Acura CL model was launched in the year 1997 and its production was continued till the year 1999. Then service was discontinued and again in the year 2001 it got enabled till 2003. In the first instance one may think that this CL took the place of the other Acura model legend coupe. Even if this motor car got its popularity in most of the places of the world still also it was only manufactured at Honda’s plant near Marysville, Ohio. One may not feel shame in saying that this model, CL was the first Acura that was made and produced in United States.

Unfortunately at the end of model year 1995, when another Sedan model got its name changed to Acura RL this Acura legend coupe was discontinued. But, to its good luck this coupe’s place was taken by Acura CL. This followed Acura’s transition to numeric values of all its vehicles.

According to the first generation model cars, the Acura CL came up with a 3.0 L J30 V6 producing 200 hp (150 kW), and a 145 hp (108 kW) 2.2L (F22B1) I4 engine. But, the next year model cars were a little more advanced as they included 2.3L (F23A1) with 150 hp (112kW). Despite the face lift and a good revamp, this model had some serious design issues, because none of the models came with a robust driver-side window. Company workers tried their level best by changing all warranties, but still no benefits were achieved.

After almost over a decade the latest generation Acura CL has taken care of all the older issues, and finally even the design gives you the feel of truly the next generation cars. Take a look at the amazing Acura CL pictures right from the first generation to the current ones as well as the upcoming ones, to make out the difference.
