(Text and Pics by Joe Grippo) Autumn in my household state of Pennsylvania signifies two factors to me, rapid E.T.’s and Swap Meet period. With Hurricane Ian bearing down us this distinct weekend, racing was off the table, so it was back again to the Carlisle Fairgrounds for the Drop Carlisle extravaganza of sections looking. Lighter crowd this year it appeared, but the place was continue to pretty packed, and prices were high, and promotions were being there but tougher to obtain. We went on just Friday of the close to weeklong party, so it was an abbreviated vacation, but we spied tons of great stuff.
The car or truck corral experienced some wonderful choices, a killer 1959 Ford State Squire with well-worn wood grain and steel slot wheels, a negative-ass Willys coupe and a couple of fascinating classic panel vans. The swap meet up with is always chock entire of fascinating vintage speed and warm rod pieces, from wheels to intakes and many items of NOS goodness. Memorabilia continues to be immensely well-known, and the charges bear that out. I found a uptick in vintage BMX bikes and paraphernalia this 12 months, attractive to my 80’s internal youngster. Neat stuff was just about everywhere.
